The German Federal Police is using Computacenter’s (RDD) Rapid Data Center Deployment Services to set up new data center

Objective

In June 2021, the Bundespolizei (German Federal Police) launched a project to build a new data center in Bonn. The aim was to set up a state-of-the-art data center in one of the three federal master data center locations, where the operation and provision of all federal police procedures would be centralised. The aim was to modernise the IT infrastructure in terms of security and availability by procuring all new hardware.

Solution

As the data center space in the Bonn master data center was limited to empty server cabinets and basic cabling, the Federal Police took on the rest of the set-up and installation work themselves. Due to the scope and demanding schedule of the project, they commissioned Computacenter’s Rapid Data Center Deployment Services (RDD).

Outcome

With Computacenter’s RDD services, the Federal Police were able to dramatically simplify and accelerate the installation of hardware in the first phase of the data center construction. In total, more than 220 IT components had been rolled out at the new site by the end of 2022. The hardware required for phase 2 has already been ordered and - where available - stored at the Computacenter Integration Center. This meant that the Federal Police were well prepared for the further expansion of the data center.
